On 1 September 2017 at Don Chan Hotel, It held a signing ceremony between Phongsavanh Group, Surbana Jurong Pte Ltd, and Mekong Group Pte Ltd from the Republic of Singapore. Attending the ceremony were his Excellency Mr. Dominic Goh, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore, Prof. Dr. Od Phongsavanh, Committee of Lao Front for National Construction, Honorable President of Phongsavanh Group, government sectors concerned, president, vice president, Surbana Jurong Consultants Pte Ltd, Mekong Group Pte Ltd, Managing Directors from Phongsavanh Bank, Petro Trading Lao Public Company, APA Insurance Co., Ltd, PAC Construction Co., Ltd, and sectors concerned in total of 60 participants. Lao side represented by Phongsavanh Group – Mr. Thedlakhone Douangsonthi, Vice President and Singaporean side represented by Surbana Jurong Pte Ltd – Mr. Yeo Choon Chong, Deputy CEO and Mekong Group Pte Ltd – Mr. Machael Aw, CEO together signed the cooperation agreement. The purpose of the agreement is for data collection, design development, and feasibility study for project development at Vientiane Industrial Zone and they will spend 12 weeks at least for conducting feasibility study. After that they will carry on work implementation under proper procedures to proceed to project construction in accordance with the Master Plan from project survey and design for Vientiane Industrial Zone. At the beginning, they will conduct feasibility at 300 hectares which will be invested by Phongsavanh Group and additional 1000 hectares will be co-invested with Vientiane Authority as a joint development. At the beginning the Group will focus on infrastructure development with pursuant to the Vientiane Mayor’s Directions and in consistent with the government’s policy in order to contribute to achieve the Social-Economic Development Plan of Lao PDR Government and Poverty Eradication Target by 2020. In addition, the project aims to actively contribute to achieve the government’s goals to leave the country out of the list of developed country by 2020.
